I'm rapidly going from lurking to poster!! Reeds have been my nemesis in my short archery career. While healing the shoulder and staring at my bow I have slowly sought every resource and have began making reeds work for me! I've tried a few out there and want to try more. Wapiti, how much for that compliment of reeds you are offering?

Okay, this will get me to show. Heading out to CO with my dad and a buddy in Sept. My dad used to go pretty regularly. I'm trying to learn as much as possible and probably have a solid 40 lurking hours in since Mid-January. This site is an amazing resource of real information... I just wish it had more "Which bow should I buy?" threads...

Welcome to the forum Buckyhunter13 and Ghost. It is good to have you here. Bucky we talk bows mostly on the equipment forum. Just ask which one is best and you will get about as many answers as there are bow hunters here. Just let me know when you are ready to purchase a new bow and I will give you the best answer. Don't listen to those other guys, they will lead you down the wrong path.

I bought some reeds from wapiti last year, just starting off I started questioning him about them when I called, he was unreal helpful and a good guy to talk to. the reeds are awesome, he also cut me a deal to help me out. I'll be getting more from him. Don't know what a lurker exactly is, I comment on here some but lack good advice lol

I had struggled with using reeds. I am a woman and my palate is small, so most reeds are too big.

Last year, Trav kindly sent me some newly minted "junior" sized reeds. Between his reeds and 2 people on here giving me some key pointers, I was finally able to make descent cow sounds. Trav also resupplied me after I blew out 1-2 of the reeds.

I recommend that everyone tries his reeds. I know everyone needs to find their own brand and models that work for them. It had gotten very frustrating for me until Trav sent me those junior sized reeds. Without those reeds, I probably would have given up on diaphragm calls.

OK, I'm out of the shadows. I have to say, a very generous offer, the only issue I have is learning to use them! It took all day for the dog to come out of hiding the last time I tried! This forum is undoubtedly the best source of information I have seen. I only wish it would have been available the first 5 times I've gone to CO. Looking forward to getting smarter.

Hopefully all of the new callers who are taking advantage of this generous offer will continue to support WR game calls in the future. Not many guys out there are willing to help that number of people free of charge!

A strong word of advice to the new callers taking advantage of this great offer. I know everyone wants to be able to make big bugles right away, but please do not jump into trying to use the "Lucky" reed right away. Due to its tightly stretched, triple reed construction it is a difficult reed for the novice to use and is not meant for the new caller. Start with the pink lady, which is EXTREMELY user friendly, then graduate to the Bull Buster, then move to the Lucky once you have become proficient with the 2 aforementioned calls. Otherwise you will undoubtedly become quite frustrated as the Lucky is a far more advanced reed than the other 2.

hello all! just signed up today. have been gathering up a ton of awesome info from here the last couple of weeks. I finally decided to join so that I could be a part of this awesome group, instead of a lurker. I have a group of two other guys that I have lurking on here now. here I will get a little winded.... I started elk hunting in 2010. as you can see I am from flat land mn... it was on a private ranch and was told where to go. we both tagged out with cows with rifles. it was my first time in the mountains and loved it and was hooked. missed 2011 while my wife was finishing her r/n degree. the last two years were in central Colorado, first with a bow and the second with a muzzle loader. last year we were out there during the monsoons. we are planning archery in Idaho this year. I have had numerous encounters in Colorado, used loosely, with my best encounter with a raghorn at 40 yards that didn't know I was there. too much brush for an arrow and within a ten yard walk he was out of view. I had a cold and started violently coughing. man was I shaking from adrenaline. but after two elkless years of diy hunting I am able to take my experiences and learn from them based on your extremely helpful information! I am on a lot of forums and the group dynamics is by far the best. thanks, gary

msd1228 is correct the Lucky triple reed is for experienced callers which in some cases a few of you are. I was trying to get a selection for most user's in general and after chatting with a few over PM's I will be sending the new callers an easier reed like the Ridge Runner instead of the Lucky triple !

Please note the Bull Buster is a single reed and most people should start with the Pink Lady and get comfortable with cow sounds then move to the Bull Buster ( Lime Green ) this should be a fairly easy progression.

Thanks for the kind offer. I am totally new to the forum and was directed from Archery Talk. I am a complete newbie at both archery and Elk hunting, but hope to glean some knowledge along the way. I have no false hopes nor am I looking for the easy road, I hope to learn all I can about this incredible animal and hope to one day connect with my bow. What I lack in knowledge, I sure make up for in determination and work ethic. I know the road is long and the learning curve is steep, but that is just what will keep me motivated. I received my package of calls last week, and I have to say that I am impressed with them. I had only used dome style calls in the past, and was worried that I would not be able to use them. As it turns out, I feel like I am able to make better sounds with these styles of calls than before. I can definitely see benefit of having separately folding sides to keep the call from moving back in the throat. Thanks for an excellent product.

I just received my diaphragm. I wanted to write and thank you for your generosity. The diaphragm is great. I have been using palate plate diaphragms for the last ten plus years. They worked better for me that those without. I used to use the Larry D. Jones calls which were satisfactory. The palate plate seemed to help me a lot. After trying the new Orange Enrager, I realize it was not the palate plate that made the difference. The Orange Enrager makes some very excellent sounds. Thank you so much.

Not sure if I'm eligible or not. Just joined this forum, elk hunting is quickly consuming my every thought. Been turkey hunting public land in southeast Missouri for the past 25 years. I have always used mouth calls and would like to think making elk sounds would be easy to pick up on. Iam keenly aware that making realistic elk sounds and calling elm are two different things much like turkey. I look forward to calling in my first bull. Hopefully I can make that happen in the next few years and if I get an arrow in him that will just be a bonus. Whether I'm eligible for your offer or not, nice to see the hospitality.
