We have been hunting eastern Oregon for approx. 8 years in the same spot, we travel approx.900 mi one way
from California and hunt 3 weeks. We are thankful to have a great spot to hunt elk and the Oregon boys camped
across from us have become great friends.

Does anybody hunt the Desolation unit? I have considered trying Oregon as an out of state hunt instead of Idaho one year as I like country like the Blues in Wa. The desolation area looks nice kinda like the Blues with less steep and deep canyons.

I've been hunting Eastern Oregon for 14 years now. I don't hunt my home state of Washington anymore.

Washington is awful for elk hunters. Seasons are rubbish and they mismanaged the quality elk areas for so long that they are no longer a desireable hunt unless you can pull a quality tag in the Blues or Colockum and some of the Yakima units.

I think there can be some good hunting on the wetside and locals in the n.e portion of the state do well. I much prefer out of state hunting in Idaho for my location and time restraints.
