New Piece of Gear.

Can you see me now? How about now? Big long white box was left out by the gate today. My new stealthy, anti elk, Elk Mountain Slip System came today. Elkmtngear (Jeff) was good to his word and expedited this thing to my house. Initial thoughts are these things are well thought out, built solid, and may just have an unrealized place in my elk tool bag. Each move to change from trekking pole to solid vertical blind to changing the slips take a handful of seconds. Digging it for sure. Thanks Jeff

I'm with you Jeremy. Been chewing on this for a while. I don't believe it's a piece of gear that will go with me on all hunts but as with everything, I think it will have it's place. Say you're the caller when you can David hit the CO elkwoods this fall in area X. You get a hit (answer) pretty close in a relatively open area and motion to David and say "go get him", I'll stay back and we'll do the old call and stalk plan. How effective would a big old cow butt in front of your ugly mug help the situation develop so David could get a shot. I'm willing to give the slip system a shot this fall. Additionally, I've been thinking about how this thing would benefit me when sitting behind the camo cover on a few evening transition/trail areas I've got locked down. I'll give you a report after this season as I plan on deploying this thing a few times. RJ

I hope you will find more situtations than you think, where the SLIP System will come in handy.

If it's not in hand, I'm usually missing it before too long.

I've only used mine as a staff for sidehilling and for an afternoon rain storm. It did great for both. My wife considers the elk butt slip "elk porn".

I had a vendor at the NABA Show tell me in great detail how I needed to "enhance" the "money spot" on that elk butt (he raises elk).

My Wife was appalled, and thought he was a total pervo!

RJ: You will need to take a Sharpie and Write "UP and mark an arrow on the inside or you will scare off the elk. If you get in a hurry and set it sideways, the elk will know its a fake.

I'm considering coupling this decoy with a Montana elk decoy on my blind setup. Nothing against your system, but there's no doubt in my mind that one of the bums I hunt with will walk away with one of them.

I always thought coupling it with a heads up...or one of those Bethedecoy elk hats could be another cool tactic if you were trying to draw a bull into a shooter that was out front.

Even without those...we have had cows and spikes at 5 yards from the butt...with two of us pinned behind it in dark timber. Gets to the point where you are almost laughing out loud like kids playing hide and seek:lol:

I have the elk rear end on mine. I haven't had a chance to shoot from behind it yet, but it works well for concealing movement while calling and such.
