Whats your go to mouth reed?

Being from Ohio it was hard to find mouth reeds in our local BPS. Ended up with a four pack of Primos calls that I felt worked pretty well last year, but would like to try something different this year.

Do most of you guys use both the hand held cow calls and reeds or just the mouth. I would like to be proficient in both so I guess that leads me to my next question

what's your go to hand cow call?

I have an old Primos call that I have had forever. It is my go to probably just because it is what I learned on and have used it for years. It doesn't have the best sound of all my calls but when I have it I know exactly what sound is going to come out.

Hand held: Sceery.

Mouth reed: Primos Imperial Plate. The red one. The blue is just ok and the white I don't care for at all.

Raging Bull, it's the best reed I've ever used, I can make nearly any sound with this one reed that a cow or bull can. No matter your reed of use find one that is best for All Purpose use & you will find you become a better & more confident caller.

Bugling Bull Mellow Yellow "Mamma" - Awesome cow reed and I use it with my bugle tube, very easy to control pitch and volume, makes great bugles.

I think you will find that with our calls you will get some tones and pitches that when you combine the right intensity for the situation at hand ... the elk really seem to come in close. Are you kidding me? Three years? Mine reeds are very well made. I have had them at least 5, and it still looks like new. I expect to get 10 years out of it anyway. Do those cheapos you get wear out after just one season?

My go-to reed is Bugling Bull's Mellow Yellow. Great for cow calls and also works well for location bugles. When I need to sound big and nasty I switch over to a Screaming Tormentor or The Challenge.
