my inlaws are moving back to Taiwan.

Postby pointysticks » 02 19, 2014 •  [Post 1]

i didnt expect it..but my wife is crushed. yesterday she was all teary eyed.

my family isnt as close. someone moves away, we give them our heartiest.."see you later..call when you get there". my nuclear family is everywhere..we meet once a year. good (enough) for me.

i LOVE my mother in law. she is the most amazing person. she is the glue of the family. she does all the work around the house..she hires the contractors, to planning the dinner menu. she treats me amazing..and i love the lady. i am seriously sad she is moving..but i know me...2 weeks in, i'll be normal again. this move plan..it was all her. 100%. she doesnt even want to move, but her husband surprised her and retired at 62..she is too young to collect medicare, so they have to go back. they are taking nothing but 5 suitcases between them. she did everything. sold the house and got everything donated, tossed..or to my house :(.

my FIL did nothing..he was tasked with recycling the fridge..hahah..i am taking care of it now. needlesstosay..i am not a big fan of my FIL. i'll personally escort his butt to the plane.

here is how it will affect an elknut. MIL and wife were chatting..they were clearly planning a trip to taiwan..a visit. maybe even drop into tokyo..or korea. i am all aboard..as traveling is really another passion of mine. guess when? SEPT!!! are you kidding me?

i am scrambling to push it back into the holidays..i will sacrifice my annual AZ deer bow hunt..but sept is kinda sacred..hard to tell my teary eyed wife this..haha.

signed..dead man walking.

Yeah dude you need to head that off at the pass and quick. Tell her 2 wrongs don't make a right. Tell her you'll be teary eyed from now until at least September of 2015. Maybe 2016 depending on how 15 goes. And don't forget the oh so true line: I don't make the seasons, hunting comes once a year and we can visit anytime. Good luck with that. I have no room to talk. I'll be in school until October 1st. No September hunting for me and that's two years in a row. But I'll be at it by the 2d week of October and sooo glad to get there. From Wyoming the up to Montana. Going to try to get it out of my system for a good..... month or two.

Ooh, that smarts!

Just tell her "that's OK, I'll just have to make it up by going to New Zealand in March/April and chase roaring stags"!

But...wait until the tears subside ;)

I understand how you feel about your mother in law. Both of my in laws were great people, and I still miss them today, even though they have been gone over 20 years now. BTW: My birthday and anniversary are both in September. When we married I never thought of September as hunting season, but have a birthday then meant I was likely to get something for the approaching deer and elk hunts.

My wife reminds me all the time how I strategically planned our wedding for August 17, I tell her yeaup no open seasons and its to hot to fish in Texas.
If it was me I'd wait 3 weeks then surprise her with a trip to see mom, that way you get points for being thoughtful and you get that trip out of the way.

one ticket is a lot cheaper than two if she wants to go in September, otherwise it would be another mos. good luck

Give it a few weeks then talk it over with her. Maybe the best time to go might be when your weather sucks and nothing is going on in your area. You want the weather to be good in the area that you travel to also. I am sure your wife understands you pasion for hunting and wouldn't want you to miss that. It will work out. Good luck.
