Mtn - I used to live in the CO mountains when I choose the name
Mutt - ie, Mongrel, I was more a mixed breed than my dog.

Back when the internet was in its infancy and AOL had a corner on the market it seemed like every email address I tried was taken so I thought about it for a while and came up with trophyhill@aol.com

Where did that come from? Well me and my deer hunting buddies have nicknames for certain spots that we hunt that only we would know where these spots are when we are talking about them. 1 such place we named trophy hills because we were always seeing monster mule deer on or near these knobs. That's where my screen name originated from and kinda stuck with me. If you try looking for "trophyhill" or "the horseshoe" (our secret deer honey holes) on a map though......you ain't gonna find them kinda like no name ridge

Mine is actually a typo... supposed to be Trumpkin with a "p" Anyways, Trumpkin is a character from C.S. Lewis' series of books "The Chronicles of Narnia". I keep the same name on two other forums. Makes it easier to remember.

My lab loved hunting chukars. Mainly because they squeaked when she retrieved them. She never did that with pheasants or huns.

Easy I missed 2 bulls on my first bow hunt. on Friday the 13th. first shot was a little hole through a tree at 35 yards hit a limb. 30 minutes later same ridge 45 yard perfect broadside shot sailed over the top. shot the bow it was just fine. mind game

I have been bowhunting elk for over 35 years. Around 25 years ago, I had a bull screaming in Hell Canyon and I couldn't resist going after him. They didn't call it He'll Canyon for nothing. I had to use a 100 feet of rope in my pack to drop off the steep rocky ridge of the canyon. My hunting partner refused to join me and said I was "Crazy". The name was set in stone after it took me 3 days to get all the meat bags and horns out of the canyon.

My hunting buddies called me Ghost because of my success at rifle still hunting, after sitting in a tree for a month and a half bow hunting, I need a change of scenery once gun season starts. The are few things quite as satisfying as shooting a deer in its bed when it has no idea your in the same county.

I've always enjoyed a warm spell when it was time for old man winter to take hold. When you thought you may have taken your last fishing trip, motorcycle ride... or got to hunt elk without packing heavy wool around and being able to sit on dry ground. The thought of an unseasonably warm day is a comforting thought I think.

I named my Montana outfitting business Indian Summer... although I have had a few gun hunters who had hoped for snow say it was a curse. lol

Also... the name ELKNUT was already taken.

I use to go by jerinmn simple Jeremy in Minnesota but I just changed it to JJ Overkill. that name is fitting as well, a friend of mine gave me the nickname after a few hunting trips.

I once shoot the bill off a wood duck with a 3 1/2" #2 @ 10 ft. another time I neck shot a small doe with a 7mm SAUM and blew a huge hole in that deer after hitting the neck bone. there was also a couple of time of over doing the tanerite in a deer carcass to get rid of coyotes

NOW I have an elk bow that I can take to Africa and hunt almost anything. everyone I talk to about my setup says its way overkill for anything in N America
