Spot bull, stalk bull, call bull, shoot bull...

For some of the new guys on here - you may have missed my 2012 elk hunt on youtube
It shows many things that people wonder about -
i.e.
Setup, calling, what an elk looks like coming in to a caller, etc.

Here is what happened prior to my buddy [herb] taking the movie:
We [3 of us] were working up a slope into the thermals. When we crested the top it was fairly flat.
We hadnt gone very far when Jarod [Pikemaster] spotted a bull feeding about 100yds in front of us...

I hope this helps get someone thru the January doldrums and catches some September elk fever!

Definitely the conclusion to a great hunt. Every once in awhile everything works out like a movie script. The bummer is that sometimes, no matter how much effort we put into our hunt, nothing seems to come out the way we want it to. That is elk hunting.

Thanks guys - I didnt know Scott was filming. And he didnt know I was going to shoot!

Scott [herb] and Jarod [Pikemaster] setup behind that big log.
If I remember right, herb moved up toward me to film and Jarod stayed back.

Now that's a coincidence! I pulled that thread up a couple hours ago & watched the video. Prematurely dreaming about next sept & put my Son in your camo Brad & he dumped the string. Hope the one I choose is bigger! great stuff for sure!

Great video and awesome bull. Ironically, I had found that video before when I was looking for archery elk videos on YouTube. ..

It was a lot of fun to just carry a camera. I didn't know Brad was going to shoot, glad he did before the bull was in my lap.

It was a very fun hunt to be on. I was set up behind Brad about 40-50 yrds but where i was at I could not see the bull, I could see Brad so I was watching him the whole time. By his actions and hand signals was how I determind how much to call. Herb was about 30 yrds slightly in fornt and to my left. It doesn't show in the video but Herb made a cow call through his grunt tube that got the bull to move in his direction which gave Brad the brodside shot. I think in this situation it was key for me to be able to see Brad and Herb so I knew when and how much to call, I did not see the bull till the last 15ft before Brad shot. And also having Herb as a secound caller to really help get that bull coming are way.
