It's ironic I guess, but the car loves to go to burger joints. Seems to purr, or rumble in her case, on the drive.

Thanks Mark, she's a 68 Chevelle pretty much restored from the dirt up. I don't have my fishing boat anymore.. sold the old salty girl last fall to finish the restoration on Big Red. Gutted the interior and replaced everything including putting the old style factory horseshoe shifter in (vs the B&M racing shifter the previous owner had), new buckets, dash, carpet, etc. She's logo'ed SS 396 in and out but I'm somewhat of a sand bagger with that . Under the hood is a bored .30 over 454. Crane street/strip cam, crane roller rockers, Hedman headers, Edelbrock high rise intake, 750 Holley. Put in a four core radiator to help run cool, new disc brakes to replace the old drums in front, HO alternator, all new front end, shocks, wheels, tires, and HEI ignition. All connected to a shift kit in the TH 350 tranny (I just like the 350s for some reason). Yep, lotsa work including replacing a good percentage of the old metal including the floor pan. My body/paint guy is on his game and has done some really nice work on mine and other cars. Really like how she turned out and well, she'll stomp any up start Mazda fart car that drives up beside me ..

Thought about it for certain Mrs. Phantom likes to drive it sometimes (with me as a co pilot) so will stay with the auto for now. Who knows, perhaps waaaay down the road, I can get her a matching red 68 Camaro to drive and I'll convert the beast to a four speed.

That thing would get me in trouble. As soon as a really good tune came on I'd get chronic leadfoot syndrome. But I guess you can't get in trouble until you get caught and I don't know if they'd catch me in that. I can drive that's for sure.

Freakin arctic blast over here. High of 20 tomorrow. By Tuesday the high is 15 and the low is 3. Looks like the Harley's will be staying in hibernation for awhile longer. I never miss a month though. Did a Polar Bear ride on the 1st of the month so I'm good for January. Any day it hits 40 and there's not snow on the roads I'm out.

That car reminds me of Lori Hufnagel in 12th grade. Hers was yellow. I better stop there......

That is epic. I was gonna guess 67 SS when I 1st saw the pic. Beautiful interior, and that shifter That is deja vu to the blue '69 SS 396 Dan Lekner had while we were in high school, class of '76. Dan had the fastest car in our high school.

There is no replacement for displacement.

No doubt. I remember it well. Had a high school buddy in Columbia Falls, MT who would borrow his older brothers Chevelle and we'd burn up a tank of gas just driving around. That was my junior year in 76. Great times.

Wow, that things gorgeous. Almost makes me want to start back hot rodding, but not quite. I lived to do that in my younger days until I went to work a couple years in an auto shop as mechanic, absolutely killed my desires to work on vehicles. It pains me to even change the oil anymore but I hate it more to pay others to work on anything I have the tools to do myself.

That's a beautiful ride RJ. Back in my senior year (1974), mine was a maroon 66 SS. Handled so nice & had such mild manners... Hehe... It seemed to always need new rear tires..I bought that car in great condition & running strong for $900 & sold it in same condition 7 years later for the same price when we started our family. In its day, there wasn't anything in town that could keep up with it. Love my kids, but sure do wish I still had that car.
