Doing some bear hunting research.

I'm also writing a book on still hunting. I worked on that a little bit.

Back from dinner with friends (Puerto Vallarta). Watching a bit a foot ball also. Go Saints! Not a philly fan at all. And...... Planning an all out yard mole assault for tomorrow! Gonna pattern their tunnels and drop some yummy (poison) worms down the pencil size holes I make. Been letting them alone for a few days to lull them into a false sense of security. Now for the worm snacks!!

Watching football @ calling the area ranchers to get permission to hunt next weeks coyote calling contest. So far I have the "go get em" from 29 different guys. Only 2 turned me away & that was because they had given the rights to another competitor. Should have more than enough country to do a day & a half. Wish us luck! NO WIND!

Why not try the fall bear hunt here in Colorado? It's a good time to hunt bear. You get the whole month of Sept to get it done. The bears are trying to fatten up for the winter, so they're out feeding 20 hours a day. No bait,or dogs, but you don't want to use those anyway do you? On the ground, face to face. That's the way to hunt for bear. ;)

A hound treed bear isn't my thing, but over bait would be. I killed my one & only a few years ago on the ground from 7 yds. A biggun to boot! In 45 years of big game hunting, that was by far the biggest adrenalin rush I have ever experienced. I was still shaking an hour later & to this day still get a chill thinking about the look on his face when I settled that top pin on him. Would love to do a spot & stalk somewhere with lots of bear. We don't see that many where we hunt elk generally, but the year I got mine we had 6 inside 25 yds. Last year we didn't see a track. Go figure ! Hang in there Scott, your turn will come.

I'll try still hunting, and then spot and stalk. If neither are working i'll try calling one in. That's what I love about the whole month to get it done. Lots of time to try everything.

If nothing is working. I'll go elk hunting. :D

Well it got up -15 today so I have been watching some football today and putting my ice fishing gear together. Going to try and get out and do some walleye fishing next weekend. Hoping that all the cold has finally froze up all the slush on the lakes, over a foot deep with 2 feet of snow on top of that. Not a good year for getting out fishing. Even the snowmobiles have been getting stuck on the lakes.

Hey, that's not a toilet paper holder. Why am I in the tub? Why am I sitting on the clothes hamper? No more Yukon Jack for me :(. Good article.

If I remember right it absolutely monsooned in Colorado last year for most of bow season. Turn the shower on and I'd caption it "Studying under actual field conditions"

Thanks for playing. No clear winner, so all can share the prize, "a laurel, and hearty handshake." (remember your Blazing Saddles trivia). I got some new boots by mail order. After some offroad dog walks in snow I had a concern RE waterproof-ness. So the picture is of me in new boots in tub of water up to my ankles. Imaginative replies notwithstanding, I was sitting on a plastic footstool. After 5+ min of sitting, I walked in place in the tub to bend the boots for a while. No leaks, the boots are keepers. Pretty savvy, Indian Summer, you were on the right track with the monsoon reply.
