Yes I have. Talked via PMs the other day. Turns out some coworkers brewed up a bit of a mess which she has been working the bugs out of. She's been working a minimum of 50 hours a week and the week before last went 78 hours straight. Said she also has a big backlog of personal stuff she needs to tend to before she will have time to check in here again. Spending the holidays with family and plans to be back here some time in February. She said I guess I had you worried. I said me worried? Heck yeah!!!

Where else on the internet do forum members think or worry about each other like we do I ask? Nowhere! It's family right. ;) Gotta love it.

Now why doesn't anyone ever miss me when I leave for a few weeks? Could it be that you all are jealous of my good looks?

By the way, where the heck is Trent? He too seems to be MIA.

Brad: I know I am supposed to be gone, but like Santa I am checking to see who is naughty and who is nice. I can see that you are allowing the inmates to run the asylum. JF: No one here is interested in whether or not you are wearing underwear. Did you stay up late last night and forget which forum you are on? OK: I will go back to visiting family now. :D

I believe we can compare it to a substitute teacher's duties.
The teacher has the daily plan, but the students do otherwise - sometimes they are not dressed appropriately either.

cnelk: I remember being a slight bother for a substitute teacher or two, but I was never confused about which chat room I was in. My home room was all there was. I made more than my share of faux pas, but I never had reason to announce anything about my drawers. I sure grew up in a simpler age.

I received a PM from her a couple months back and we replied back and forth a couple times. I was wondering the same thing Paul as I have not seen her post. Then again I only get to pop in now and again myself. Work has me beyond busy right now.

LoL.

Interesting how this thread went from being about where I may be to being about underwear.

I unexpectedly got slammed at work starting in November. Dummy me volunteered for something at work because my coworkers were in a crunch. I did this to myself.

I still have a massive amount of personal things to get caught up on and work will remain busy until mid February and maybe beyond.

I did get to enjoy the holidays with friends and family. I hope you all did as well.

I had replied to Jeremy's PM stating that I hoped that you all were behaving yourselves and not giving old Hootie (swede) a hard time. I see that you all are still misbehaving.

Sorry about my long absence. It will take me a long time to get caught on the forum.

Thanks for caring.

Wishing you all a healthy and successful New Years.

Cheers!

Very wise advice and normally the words I live by. In this case, my 2 coworkers are also my friends and I take care of family and friends. No regrets. At the end of that Saturday's 12 hour working meeting, I did remind my boss that I do not volunteer. I did not want him to get any ideas that this was a trend. He did let me take half of this past September off for my hunting adventures. I am banking on him remembering this December's work hours when I ask for time off this September.

Now if any of you have an elk that is bothering you, I would gladly volunteer to shoot that elk for you.

A LITTLE out of hand? I have not yet read the last 6-8 weeks of posts, but my recent skim reading would question the word "little".

Yes Trav. A little time off cleared my head of work. I even pulled out the diaphragms a little last month. Good stress relief to occasionally make elk sounds when work got tough.

Thanks for the welcome back.

Great to see you folks keeping the fire going in the dead of winter. Even though, some of you do mischief and throw firecrackers into the fire.

Everything Is relative mtnmutt. :D The difference is usually based on which end of the problem you find yourself. As a maker and giver it seems to be no big deal. Now if you were JF on the receiving end, and having to maintain order, I can see how you might see things just slightly different. I know there are a couple of us who will be in real trouble if he ever loses his sense of humor.

Thanks John. You are more than gracious.
Something has been bugging me for a few days now. It is not what anyone else wrote here, but what I did. I said to mtnmutt that my joking comments are "no big deal" to me. I am not on the receiving end and I don't see things from the receiver's perspective. I wrote that "we had gotten a little out of hand". Since she clearly pointed out that my use of the word "little" was a gross understatement, I have been pondering what I am doing with my joking posts. To be frank, if I have not poked fun at you, it is because I do not feel I know you well enough, or am not sure how you would receive my barbs. To their credit, everyone here has been gracious and those who were my victims, usually pitch some back at me, which is great.
My concern is that I took advantage of John's good nature and went too far. I am too quick, when I see an opportunity to turn someone's humorous post around, to make THEM the point of the joke. This applies even when no one was being made the point of in the original joke. Sometimes this is where I quickly go too far. John is a great character and very valuable resource for this forum. I doubt very many know what a debt we, who enjoy this site, owe him.
I want the Elknut Forums to be both fun and educational. I will be gone, if its character ever becomes mean or insulting. There are old and recent posts from hunters who have been attracted to this site, because we get along well. This I attribute to the fact that we like each other here. We are like a group of hunting buddies in a large elk camp. Usually it is not what we say that is the problem. It is how we say it. I can assure everyone on this forum, I have never intentionally tried to hurt anyone here. To the full extent that I have, I apologize. My intention, is on occasion to continue poking at guys like John, WW, cnelk, Rj etc. If I make public blunder, feel free to reprimand me PUBLICLY. After all we are friends.

Swede, My "little" comment was meant in jest, as sarcasm. In hindsight, a smiley face here and there would have helped a bit. Plus, I did it in haste which is always a bad idea. Looking back, I did not follow my rule of internet posting of reading something 3 times slowly before posting. That rule generally keeps me from posting something stupid.

I am still 6-8 weeks behind reading the posts made since the end of November, therefore, I had no right to make a jesting comment like that. It appears, I am the one guilty of fanning the fire.

You have not met my family. Sarcasm is in our DNA. Although I try to behave myself on the internet, I occasionally stumble.

My apologies to all if I implied that any of you have gone too far in your joking. This forum is still the best behaved forum that I have experienced.

Swede, I have never seen any of your posts go too far.

Keep the humor. You have the heart and integrity to know when it is too much.

I never thought the personality of a hunter would be the thin skinned type. We kill and butcher animals. It's not for the weak minded. It's also physically tough, so nerds don't usually do it.

Certainly, we can all take a little abuse now and then.

As someone with a really good sense of humor I read all of the comments as light hearted fun. I can usually tell when it is going to get out of hand. I read more than I post here simply because if I am not learning something I am laughing. Enough so someone will ask what is so funny? I usually reply " you would not get it". I will agree this is one of the most friendly forums I have been on. Some what educational at times. Do not stop being what you are....

Hi Indian Summer...As much as I would like to stop in more often, I just haven't had much time lately. Work, family, deer season, work, family, work, javelina season, work...that's life! Hopefully that will change, especially if I'm lucky in the NM draw this year. Meanwhile, I'll lurk and learn. ;)
