Longtime lurker. Joined a couple of days ago.

Looking forward to my first elk hunt this fall. Hopefully with an arrow in one should my leave allow that to happen.

Longtime runner, fast packer, climber and whitetail chaser.

Took a nice 10 point here last weekend all tired out from chasing doe.

I've always dreamed of elk hunting the trails I run and climb on and around.

Keep the info coming so I can continue to learn! This place is a gold mine.

Welcome to camp Daniel. We definitely have room for another Texan. Your State sure has exported a lot of good Church pastors. I have served with a few myself. We mostly talk elk around the fire. We talk elk a lot. WW says mostly I just talk. I hate it when he is right.

What part of the great state of Texas do you live. I have a house in Houston. I spend some time there. Not my favorite place, but that is where the office and clients are. Welcome to this place, you are correct it is a gold mine. There are some really good folks here with a lot of good information.

I have a few. Mostly dealing with that for the fall of 14 and 15 I won't be able to bowhunt the rut. So no calling closing the gap and sealing the deal.

I'm accumulating PP's for the states that use them and applying for the draw in New Mexico at this point with an OTC backup in a place or two should New Mexico fail.

I'm assuming that since hunting between mid sept to oct1 isn't going to happen that my best alternative would be tree stand on water for archery?

I was born and raised and went to school in Houston before going to AZ and overseas for a bit then back to SA.

I deer hunt in a few places an hour or two northeast of Houston and out here near SA.

wELKome Tex! Hey, maybe you'll run across my son down there. He just relocated from Scott AFB to Randolf AFB. Just took a CS job there. He also is scouting for a good church in the area as well as a home. Like I said, wELKome aboard!

I'm new here myself. I'm up in Wichita Falls, TX at the moment, but will be relocating to Fairchild AFB next winter. I also had a pretty good deer season myself (2 Oklahoma public land P&Y bucks).
