Spot Satellite Phone

Postby Harmy » 01 02, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Just curious how many of you use the Spot Satellite Phone? For those that use them how well do they work in the Elk wilds? What locations have you used them and what locations have they not worked?

I just got one yesterday for my anniversary from my wife but I know nothing about them. Am curious how well they work in the backcountry of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming.

Are you talking about the Spot Messenger, or an actual phone by Spot with which you can make phone calls or send texts? I have a Spot Messenger that I used this past season. Lots of reviews out there all over the map, however I loved mine.

I got one ... and used it a fair amount in the fall. Not so much since then ... unfortunately, I've been in cell range too much!

Overall ... it's a sat phone. Crystal clear transmission, but you will drop some calls. I like it, though. I enjoy hunting alone, but sometimes need to talk to someone about "bring this" or "meet here, not there". The safety features are obvious.

Moderators

I have suspicions the post by Umay is SPAM.

Cell phone blockers are illegal in most cases within the United States.
