OK, I gotta know! to carbon or not to carbon

Ok, Ive, wanted a carbon element bow ever since they hit the stores, but $$ ouch, that stings. Add to that i rarely by anything brand new, much less a bow; i do upgrade every 10 years or so tho, lol. But this new carbon spyder is calling me, Im scared to pick it up. the last time i picked up a "new" bow it really $ me, found a used one but still $ me.

Has anyone gone to a carbon only to give it up or gone back to aluminum for ? reason.

I also shoot the Alphamax 32, it's a great shooter for me. My son owns the Element & loves the bow. We chronographed both side by side & his Element is 25 FPS. Both kill Deer & Elk but his will do it quicker! (grin) Yep, they're lots of cash for sure! If I were looking for a new bow it would get my serious consideration too!

I took a plung last year and picked me up a new Spyder Turbo. I had been shooting a Katera. I tried to stay as open-minded as possible and shoot all kinds of new bows. At the same time I knew that if all things were equal I would always lean towards Hoyt. I was actually given the option of a brand new Element at the price of the Spyders. When it was all said and done, I personally didn't like the fit of the Element. The Turbo just seemed to fit. It edged out the Experience and the Creed (both great bows). I recently shot the new Carbon Spyder Turbo. It was awesome!!! However, I then picked up my aluminum Turbo and remembered how good it felt to me. The carbon would be an upgrade, but the difference in .2 - .4 lbs of total weight for me doesn't justify the cost of carbon on my budget. Besides, my bow (now last years model) is substantially cheaper if I'd have had 6 months of patience. Having said all that, there is something about the excitement of the "brand new" bow that is hard to replace !! I'd say go shoot a few side by side, go home, make yourself sit it out for a week or two, then go back having slept on it for a bit. If the excitement is still there the decision is probably made. I know I've felt buyers remorse from a guick decision before. Not fun! It seems to me that my "quick" buying decisions fall into that category more often than my well-thought-through decisions. Patience is a virtue (so I've heard )!!! The right bow will "just feel right"!!! Haven't heard that before have we !! Good luck & happy shopping!!

Upon further review (or reflection), I wanted to add one more thought. As I previously mentioned, I have experienced buyers remorse after some "quick" decisions for sure. However, I am also one that has regretted wanting something more than what I got in order to save a buck. I then end up not totally satisfied.....wishing I would have just gotten "the right one" to start with. Shoot them all, give it some time, then go buy the one you can't live without. After some time has passed, we seem to forget the cost if we are happy with what we have. I'm loving my Spyder Turbo. I could have taken home a much more expensive Element for the same money, but honestly liked the feel of the Spyder more. Good luck!! It gets me excited for you!!!

One could also tell that I love mine. It's a 2012. Mine is black instead of camo, saved a bunch of money there. Thought it may have have psycological effect on me. But I love it more and more every time I shoot it.

i shot that carbon element when it first came out..it was so nice. the sticker shock was not so nice. i hung it back up.
what was the brace height back then? 7"??

the shop guy let me shoot another Hoyt. i think it was the Maxxis 35? heck Hoyt has so many models i cannot keep it straight. whatever it was, it was also very nice. i want one someday. just carrying a alum bow in sub freezing temps..makes me yearn for the carbon feel. my buddies bow doesnt want to freeze to my skin neat stuff.
