Mandroofing, when did the snow fall? Had some snow on Friday afternoon. I was at lizardhead in unit 70 Saturday Morning at about the same altitude only about 1.5 inches fell. I went to the back side of Lone Cone the next day and most of the snow had already melted.

I spent the last 2 weeks in 65. Snow was melting pretty fast up high, no snow where I was! We went 4 for 4, 3 bulls 1 cow. Bulls were more quiet this year than what they were last year at this time. They would be going nuts 1 day then they were quiet for a couple days, kind of weird this year! Seen 3 bulls really running a cow hard on the 25th and we still had 1 tag to fill, I finally got one of them (a really nice 5x5) to start heading our way but my buddy couldnt turn down the cow that came in to 15 yards first. Good luck!

We'll we went and got skunked !!!! Had tag soup all 6 of us !!! On our way we got snowed in, in the town of silverton couldn't make over red ear pass (I think that was the name of it) finally make it to our cabin it was canceled due to the government shut down so we stayed in our cattle trailer !!! It snowed heavy on us every day except for day # 1 the rest of the week was snow snow snow. Day 2 We say 10 cows and 1 6 X 6 bull (real nice one )on private land north of the lake drove around to the other side of private trying to call them to us but no luck. Day three more snow say the same elk but on private land. Day 4 snowed 8 more inches with no visibility tried it anyway no elk. Day 5 another storm was coming so we pack up and left !!!!! Was wandering if that is normal or just a fluk ? Was really wanting to know if this area has a lot of hunters in archery ?

We say lots of mule deer and lots of coyotes. Several bear tracks and fresh bear poop. Only heard 2 shoots all week. Forgot to share when we left we went north to main highway and turned right heading to gunnison 1 mile from where we turned on the south side of the road in a open field we seen a group of around 40 th 45 elk just laying there in the wide open in knee deep snow with no cover and it was snowing
