vortex razor 16-48x65 spotter bipod???

Postby 13bonatter69 » 09 30, 2013 •  [Post 1]

I am planning on purchasing the 16-48x65 razor spotter, but am unsure of which tripod to get. I will be using this for truck duty as well as in the field. I like the weight and compactness of the summit ss, but am unsure if its heavy duty enough for this spotter. I see it has a hook to hang weight off of, so is that a good option or should I get a more heavy duty tripod for this scope??? Thanks

Billy, yes the Summit SS Tripod will support that Razor 65 Spotter with no problem! That is the Spotter I use on my own 65 as well. The Summit is designed for back packing type use & uses a ball head to reduce wt. If needing a pan head then you'd consider another tripod but it will add at least a 1b. more. The ball head works with that 65 pretty nice though!

Thanks Paul
Do you add weight to the tripod, or do you just not use the hook at the bottom? Thanks

Billy, I've never added wt to the Summit Tripod, actually I remove the hook! I see no need to pack it! If I have Tripod at full height it's only for a short time as I size critters up after located with binos first. If I plan to hold up in a spot for hours I sit & get comfortable, when this is done the Tripod is generally less that 3' high so winds usually don't effect it enough to be concerned about. Thanks.
