Colorado unit 22

Hello to all! My name is Josh, I am new to the site. I'll be taking my son on his first elk hunt this fall, we did not draw our tags so we will be buying OTC bulls for 2nd rifle. I've archery hunted here once and got into a few elk but couldn't seal the deal. I would just like for him to see some game more than anything. Any pointers on general areas to start at would be much appreciated. I'm willing to trade info or help anyone however I can!

West of Piceance Creek, consider the area around Hatch and Lee gulches, above the creek bottoms and below the very heavy pressure on the top near the landing strips. Unit 22 is all about drilling. It is everywhere! South of Piceance, the Square S area and small groves of aspens, dark timber along the border with GMU 32 are good elk bets. Back in the day I hunted the top of Story gulch, usually saw elk.
