help with sons hunt

I need some advise. we have never rifle hunted elk so not sure what to expect. he has a cow tag first season in co. will there be a hunter behind every tree or same as bow. its otc bow and draw first season for elk. how should I change tactics, spots, etc. and Im thinking about hiring some pro help if anybody has any suggestions as to who to contact just to shoot a cow. I can give units thru a pm if that would be better. I just want him to be into elk an have a chance

First season is a draw only so it should not be to busy. Also the good thing is that the bulls will most likely still be in rut so should be able to locate a herd and do some work from there. The elk will still be in the same spots for the most part as they are now. Unless it snows a bunch(its gonna snow today). I don't know about hiring someone I guess it depends on where your hunting and if there are elk in the area. Should be fun!!

Agreed. But it's rifle season, not bow season, so even better than a skinny game trail is a place where you can see a couple hundred yards. Saddles, ridges, etc.

brad I appreciate the offer but wouldn't want to get in your area. I would never take somebody elses spot. he got a antelope hunt from the dnr in dec so should have an excellent opp to get a pronghorn, if he gets an elk in oct im gonna take him to Nebraska to see if he can get a mulie doe in nov. he could poss get an elk mulie and pronghorn at the age of 12, and he got a whitetail a couple years ago. would be very cool. anyway I was just needing advise as I have never been in th mnts this time of year.

Exactly BRazz! Guess I should have added that to my post. I think Bnsafe has hunted enough to realize that. But thanks for bringing that point up.
