Broadheads That Don't Make The Cut!

What broadheads won't you shoot for whatever your reasons are? For me one popular head is the Shuttle T. I cannot get passed the pop can tinny type of construction of this head, it has to be the softest metal I've seen to date. I realize many use this head & with success but as for me I could not hunt with that head at its present stage of construction.

How about you, what head gets the ax! (grin)

I won't use any type of mechanical broadhead. I dont care which brand it is, or who loves any particilar one.

On the other hand, I've been using NAP Thunderheads for 14 years now. They aren't fancy, they don't pretend to shoot through 6 phone books, and the design hasnt changed for as Kim as I can remember. They aren't sexy, but they seem to work for me.

I'm sure some here love the shuttle ts but I have to agree they are a lil soft and difficult to sharpen on the other hand they do fly nicely but there are a lot of heads up nicely. I believe everyone should give the Exodus by qada try ,very sharp easy to sharpen and Fly very well

Nearly any mechanical....

The only mechanical that I have trusted is the Ulmer Edge, but that has been only on whitetails.

muzzys for me, im sure they are a fine head and lots have been killed with them. but I have never been able to make em fly right no matter what I tried. again, not slamming muzzys, I just wont use them.

x2 on the muzzy heads. i cant get them to fly. i dont even like putting them together. sure they are a fine head, and i know they have killed so many animals. but they just dont like me.

Ditto! You beat me to it. They are a bone crushing design for sure but those buggers wouldn't stay consistent no matter what I tried. Now Slick Tricks have a similar design but fly great. Different tip is the reason I think. That chisel point "just ain't cuttin' it".

My son-n law had the most terrible groups going from his target tips to the muzzy's he was shooting. I thought maybe he was shooting a differtn

I had thoughts of going to muzzy's next year but maybe I'll head over into the "slick trick" corner. I currently shoot shuttle t's and I just can't get 'em to fly right. They seem to sail in any type of breeze and I'm finally just getting tired of constantly messing with them. I would love to find a fixed blade that shoots as accurately as a mechanical.

I won't shoot a Rage head or a G5 montec. That goes for any other cut on contact head. They might work great for any other type of animal and my dad has killed tons of antelope with them and I used them before shuttle t's and put down a ton of antelope but they just never cut it for elk.

pok3, im not recommending anything, but I went to slick tricks this year and love em. also heard great things about the exodus, just couldn't pay 40 when I could pay 30.

I'm not scared to say I shoot mechanicals. I don't like the ulmer edge, shot a small bull last year and had a non existant blood trail, good thing he didn't go far. Had a great experience with the rage hypodermic this year, good penetration, great blood trail and bull only went 30 yards.

I gave up on the shuttle T's because they come out of the package fairly dull and are hard to sharpen. I never thought they were flimsy though and they fly true out of my bow.

I still shoot thunderheads some but will be using standard slick tricks this year on the elk hunt.

I experimented with the T3 on my elkhunt last year. I killed the elk in short order because of shot placement but when I looked at the head only 1 blade opened. i'm back with my tried and true RazorTricks with devastating results.
