Looking for someone wanting to camp together for a elk trip!

Hi there

I'm hoping to put together a OTC elk hunt for archery or rifle. I've hunted whitetail and turkey my whole life and have been on two elk hunts before. I'm 31 and in pretty decent shape although I know you can never be in to good of shape for elk hunting. I would like to find a group or somebody else that is by their self to hunt with. I would be open to hiking in and a few miles and setting up a camp or other options someone else might have. We had some great success on my last trip by putting one guy in a great glassing spot while the other started at daylight up on the mountain we were glassing. I'm considering the flat tops area but am open to suggestions. Any tips on some good areas for me to start searching would be appreciated also. Thanks Luke!

I'm not going to stir the pot for someone asking for friends and hunting partners heck no harm in asking. But just remember this guys if someone does invite you along or point you in a direction be considerate to that person in the future don't show up the next year with 4 of your friends and take there spot. I had a friend show me the ropes on elk hunting but we didn't click on hunting styles so the next year I went back but found my own spot about 5 miles from him. I had another person (forum member) show me a spot and me dad and I hunted had a great hunt killed a bull, but that is not my spot this year when I wanted to go back I contacted him to see if it would be ok. And i will every year that i hunt that place. It is all about common courtesy. I've seen more fights over hunting ground then I care to admit, yes it is public that doesn't mean you can still someone elses hard work.

Hey jack I tried messaging you but I'm a new member and it won't let me yet. I'll give you a call soon. 2nd rifle looks the most appealing to me but I'm open to other hunts if someone has a good reason why the other hunts would be more successful. Plus if it's possible to get a decent leftover first gun tag I would rather do that. I'm new to this and will make some calls and see if I can figure out if there's any leftover tags for units I would like. Does anyone know of any public land units with leftover first gun season draw tags?

You might want to check the CPW website. I think that all 1st season rifle elk tags are draw tags. Very doubtful there would be any left over tags.
2nd. season rifle elk tags can be bought over the counter for quite a few units. The CPW has a list of any left over elk tags on their website;
