young herd bulls

found a new meadow that had a herd pass thru several times in the last week. two young bulls are hanging out with the cows I suspect until a mature guy gives them the boot. got some great pictures.

Yes, very good shots of elk being elk!

This guy had 9 cows around mid Sept. a couple years back. You just never know, some areas are depleted of enough decent 6 points to go around for the amount of cows per area! (grin)

I agree - a legal bull is a great bull. I'd shoot any of them (or the cows for that matter)...

Nice pics. I also like the forked brow tines. If he lives a few more seasons, he will definitely have some character. Chin on the ground to take a nice summer nap is cool too. Looks like a good spot for the opener.

I know places where those could be herd bulls. Hunted the Selway a few years ago. 30+ miles in and it was not uncommon to see a medium 5 point ruling the roost. We passed on them.... eventually with regrets. lol Nice pics.
