Cell phone coverage SW CO

Leaving town in a week or so and was wondering if there was any cell phone coverage around Pagosa Springs. I have TMobile...yeah, I know-it is pretty crappy.
I'm not betting that there will be any coverage there but for you guys in the area, how bout it? Anything available in your neck of the woods?

Close to/in Pagosa it will work but as soon as you hit the woods it wont work.

We get pretty good cell phone coverage from our camp at 9000 feet near Grand Junction and Montrose. We used to have to locate open ridges to pick up cell phone towers out of Grand Junction, but service has greatly improved with Verizon. Look into a Wilson Antenna Booster for vehicles. Around a $100. I paid $76. on EBay. They claim to boost the antenna 20x stronger when call is connected. Even more if you upgrade the length of antenna. Comes with a magnetic 6" antenna that attaches to roof of vehicle.

cell phone coverage aint the best around here...verizon works good, and att works ok for the most part. tmobile dont have any towers up here. Im not sure if tmobile shares towers with verizon and att. My att phone does really well around here, until you get into the wilderness, then nothing works...

Thanks guys! I couldn't remember if I had already asked that question but couldn't find it in past posts. Terrible thing getting old and losing what little memory you had!!

I pretty much was planning on not having any communication with the outside world once on the trail. Kinda double edged sword ain't it? Nice to be away and not have the phone bug you but not the best situation to make sure all is well on the home-front or in case of emergency. Oh well...I'll do what I've always done and rely on the Lord and make sure that I have the faith that He can work through any situation regardless of whether it is bad or good.

Got my "ticket to ride" in the mail the other day and really looking forward to hitting the road. I've just about squared away all of my business details and loose ends. The wife is supportive and encouraging, so no worries there. It's a beautiful day!!

my coverage is spotty in the next unit to the east of Pagosa. if I need to make a call I can do so in certain areas.

Are you guys doing anything to get better cell reception, such as antenna ?is there any thing that helps you get more bars on your phone? Signal boosters

When I lived in a mountain town in a 1938 cider block home, I used a Wilson external antenna. It boosted by 1-2 bars.

If you see your phone flipping from 0-1 bars, you may still send text messages. Phone calls would be hard.

Got a Wilson unit for Christmas this last year for hunting. Where I hunt in eastern MT there is a couple places that you can make a phone call but all of them are over 10 miles away. Where we camp my phone has a very week signal so it will not dial. Checked out the unit the other day. Phone was bouncing between no signal and a very week signal, tried to call but no dice, put the phone in the Wilson unit and ended up with 3 bars and had no problem making a call. Hoping it works as good when I get out there hunting in 3 weeks.

Don't really know about Pagosa area but I've found the higher you go the better the service gets. That has been the case for most places I venture in colorado. It's also different depending on service, I use AT&T with good results above 9000ft.

in the weiminuch widerness I have often had cell signal on a verizon cell phone when you get up high. In fact its fairly frequent if you are looking. you can get the most basic prepaid verizon cell phone for 15$ at walmart and just sign up for a plan that cost you 1.99 a day if you use it. you most likely could text, but occasionally call. then after your hunt just set it aside. its not any sort of contract.

We hunted north of Pagosa springs by William creek could text in a clearing but couldn't call.
