X2 or Team Elk?

Possible for you to try either on? I love the layout of the X2 but it fit me like crap. The Team Elk fit me better but I think its load carrying capabilities were poorly planned out.


I ended up with a MR Longbow.

Looks like a great pack. Have you used this pack on any hunts?

I got the Team Elk at a RMEF banquet last spring. I spent the last couple of weeks trying to get it to fit right with 25 pounds of weight in it. So far I'm not thrilled. After walking about a mile the bar along the bottom starts to dig into my back. Hopefully it will be better with hunting clothes on, but with shorts and a t-shirt, not so great. I'm about 6' tall 175 lbs, so probably pretty average size. Good luck with your choice.

I have an X1 and I used it to pack out an elk's front shoulder and I didnt have any issues with it.
It is comfortable enough.
Its now my son's pack.

I have the Blue Widow, and while it can be a huge pack, if you just keep the wings folded in, it is a good day pack. Fits great, very comfortable, and when I want a big pack, it works for that as well.

Not on an elk hunt. But it did follow me on some big country spot and stalk bear trips as well as some scouting missions. Frame is a little stiff, obviously, but I love it so far. Hoping to have it about 70# heavier in a few weeks:)

I have the X2 and have been very happy with it. Last year I packed out 2 hind quarters with it, Usually take out a hinr quarter on the first trip and then use my freighter frame for futher trips.

I have the X2. I'll be using it for the first time on an elk hunt in a couple of weeks. I did do a 3 day pack trip into the RMNP last year. I'm 5'10" and really wished the pack had some adjustability for length. I had about 35# in it and could feel every ounce by the end of the 7 mile hike in. I use it extensively here in the midwest for whitetail hunts and it works great. I'll have it on as a day pack in CO and hope to do the same as planebow and get it bloody with the first load back to camp for my freighter.
If I would have had more money in my budget at the time, I prob would have bought the Blue Widow since you can collapse it when you want a small daypack but expand it as needed.
X2 is built really well and I like it's lay out a lot. Personally like it better than the Team Elk that I tried on at the REMF elk banquet.

I don't think you will go wrong with either one but I'd try both on with some weight in them before buying.

Thanks for the replies............might have to hold off and move up a notch in the packs. Like I said I have the X1 and I do have an old metal frame load pack but I guess I am looking for the best of both worlds. I think I will take along the metal frame pack and just see ( if I am lucky) what the X1 will do.

You may also look at the Tenzing 4000. Shrinks down to around 2400ci but will blow out to 4000ci. With compression straps the pack will reduce down to a mere 3" in depth. Awesome day/multi day pack. The adjustable yoke is a nice touch as your load lifters will generally end up at 45* or better.

I've been paying attention to those. Waiting to see the feed back.

I am going to hold off on buying a new pack.........Kifaru is 4-6 weeks on new packs........I am thinking a Xmas gift is going to happen. Of course I am going to be Santa. LOL
