wilderness athlete?

Postby pointysticks » 08 08, 2013 •  [Post 1]

hydrate and recover

anyone drink this stuff? i was at REI about to buy some hydration/electrolytes stuff, and realized it was super expensive. about $2-$2.50 a pack. crazy.

i looked into this and it is much cheaper. i'll portion out some powder into a ziploc and scoop as needed. i didnt buy any other products. that energy drink looks interesting, but i figure "recovering" is more important to me.

what the heck? less than fifty cents per serving.

curious what "berry blast" taste like. i hope it isnt cloyingly sweet.

Let us know how it tastes. I thought about trying some this year along with the altitude advantage from them as well.

okay. it taste like lightly sweeten pink lemonade. sorta like that EmergnC, vitamin drink.

not to bad. better than powdered gatorade, but a long shot.

I have used the Hydrate and Recover, along with the Energy and Focus. I have even mixed them, folks call it "Superman". To be honest, I thought it ruined the taste.

Drank it after long runs of 2 hours or more.

I like the H&R Berry Blast all by itself, and it helps but it isn't a magic wand. Nothing is.

The "superman" is the way to go(HR and EF). It does ruin the taste for the first week but you'll get use to it.

I and many other hunters swear by it.

Just my 2 cents.

Got to agree with John on the superman combination, I often have to workout in 110 degree heat index due to temps in the upper 90s and high humidity. Mixing the HR and EF has been a great combination for me, take a mixture before running and after running. I also take the pre workout pills and joint advantage pills.

John, you read my mind!

I drink a "Superman" every morning! And when I am hunting, I drink a "Superman" as soon as I leave my tent in the AM and just before the PM hunt.

This allows to give the me the "boost" of energy and mental alertness without crashing down as coffee does to me. Additionally, this cocktail keeps the joints in my body well lubricated with the Glucosamine.

The above product pictured is all I use at altitude, or when i'm going to sweat. I live at 8200ft, so some would say i'm always at altitude, but it means 11,000-12,000ft to me.

I can feel a big difference in using it over plain water. Taste sort of like raspberries to me. It comes with a little scope. I use two scoops for a quart of water.
