garmin maps

im gonna buy a map to download onto my garmin rino 610 to see if that will fix the problem, if not im sending the unit in. anyway, what map should I look into. I do not have a sd card slot. bass pro has one of Colorado that has gmu, herd movements, etc on it but not sure if its a good one or not. should I just buy the garmin 24 k map. I think the local sportsmans warehouse has garmin maps from like 2008 for cheaper. what do yall think.

Your unit may be old enough it doesn't support custom maps. That could be your problem. If you can see the folders on the unit when you plug it in to the pc I can email you a map. Ill look up your unit specs when I get home.

Hmmmmmm! I thought all the newer Garmins had an SD slot! But what do I know. Did you look for the slot in the battery compartment?

the rino 610 doesn't have a sd card slot. when I bought it I thought I would just come to Colorado once or maybe twice in my life so wouldn't matter. wanted a nice unit but didn't need a lot of bells and whistles. a year later im living out here. duh.
bob, I had it on there an it worked perfectly last year, was working when I put it up last year, but when I went out the first time this year it is gone.
wonder if I should get one with a sd card unit. I have a couple kids coming up that dabble in hunting so my unit now would work for them after I sent it in and got it fixed. hmmmm. that might work. wonder if the wife would agree.

oh yea, yes I can see the folder on my unit when its plugged in. I cant open it, but can see it.

well I broke into the saving acct and bought a 650 so I could use a sd card. figured it was worth the money since I got a super buy on it and living out here now. put a map on it and it works great. downloaded my waypoints off my computer and the new unit looks just like the 610 did last year. I used the 610 for 5 days total now they are wanting to charge me 110 bucks because I lost my original receipt. im not a happy garmin customer.

Check the free maps out on GPSfiledepot.com or this link http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/state/co will take you to the Colorado page. The price is right...free. They have one called Colorado Topo 2011 Map. I have used 6 different maps (Ohio, Indiana, Wyoming, Hawaii, and Idaho) of different areas with no problems. Says it shows BLM boundaries. Some will have land usage on them, this one doesn't appear to have that. I think they are better than Garmin maps.
