Darkening ones face

So what does everybody use to darken ones face?

Early on for whitetails I used facepaint, but later years I went without. I don't think it matters for whitetails since most hunting is done from trees.
Last year for elk I used nothing while my son brought these black patches that are adhesive and often seen on football players below the eyes. We both have facial beards for hunting. Since we pack in, I'm debating on either nothing or taking a cork to burn on this years hunt. I still have to experiement on how the burnt cork lasts through the sweat.

I'd be more worried bout the scent from the facial hair then I would be darkening my face. Hair grows lots of bacteria...with all the masks available to todays market, the days of face paint are gone...unless youre one of those TV stars to the shows today, then you need to use it to be cool!!

Cleaning out my archery tackle box a couple of days ago, came across some face paint. Brought back a lot of memories! Plus 1 on the mask!!

Face paint or charcoal here, I don't care for masks and don't want to chance having part of a mask getting hung up on string, release or twisting in front of my eyes, for me paint stays put.

In the past I have used all of the items mentions above, now I go with option 4, none of the above. I will hide behind my bow and shoot when the elk is not looking my way.

I try and stay in the shadows and remain as still as I can.
I may use a gauzy face mask if the bugs are bad.

Used to put on the war paint but now, just use a mask. In WA state, the skeetos and no see ums will eat the flesh off your head without a mask. You'll be skeleton head without something on your gourd to protect your skin. No kidding. I use the same (mask) in ID or MT as I'm used to it. If you do use a mask, gotta make sure you practice with it.

I expect to use my mask in the blind

I carry a mask more so for "here he comes" when in the field
I have had time to put on paint if I am in on them
