primos calls?

I drew a early archery tag in NM unit 34 elk and deer and I'm was planning on the bullet bugle my wife bought me or the terminator bugle I found last yest on my turkey hunt I also have a flextone bottie cow call. Has any one use them and what do y'all think of them. This is my second archery elk and first time to try calling. Any help or advice would be great and muc appreciated.

One of the easiest bugles to use in my opinion is the Berry Thunder Bugle, been using it for over 10 years and just have to replace a reed every now and then. There are a lot of good bugles on the market, will be glad to see some of the favorites.

Rowdy: I see you are not getting a lot of response yet, so I will venture to try. To the best of my knowledge, though it is limited on Primos stuff, all commercial calls work. I had the hardest time with an Abe & Sons bugle years ago, but some others thought it was the greatest. The thing that is most important is to know the sounds you need to make, and when to use them. I used to use a vacuum cleaner hose as a grunt tube. That too will work.
You will have limited bugling flexibility with any bite and blow type call. That does not mean they don't work, but once you learn the sounds of the elk and understand calling well, the bite and blow bugles will go to the bottom of your call box. I have given my last bite and blow bugle away.
Learn the sounds of the elk and what calls to make and when to make them. For a very small investment you can get Elknut's Playbook and DVDs. If funds are tight just get the Playbook and either the Worse Than Wolves, or Elknut's first dvd. The good thing is that you still have time to learn some great calls before the season starts. Congrats on the hunt! I drew the first hunt in 34. Did you draw the 1st or 2nd hunt? Sorry no advice on the calls as I am brand new to this.

I used the terminator last year with very little success. I am not saying it doesn't work, it is just what happened to me in that weeks span. Cow calling is what worked for me the best. I would also recommend checking out Pauls books and DVD's. They have helped me a great deal. I went from sounding OK on a terminator "yodel bugle" to sounding OK with a mouth reed (according to the hear your sounds thread) in less than a year! I did get consistent with it and used it primarily at sun up/sun down to locate. I found it difficult to use other sounds with it. Your calling wont be the determining factor in your hunt unless used in the wrong way.

GWH I have the fist hunt Sep 1-10 I'll hubt all ten days.... I hunted the APRE6 hubt kast Dec and saw a few elk. Had a nice 6x6 and a 7x7 at 80 yrds but couldn't close I. on them with out getting busted.. Fathers dsy weekend I scoutec and saw 60 plus cows and heard done bulls buggle across the canyon

I got a Terminator with a magazine subscription.
Im really dont know how to compare myself to other elk callers .
I think the call sounds pretty good , it was easy to learn , last year it brought one bull to 30 yards another to 22.
One thing as an avid/rabid waterfowler I have found the Primos brand in duck , goose and preditor arev calls easy to learn, sound good , and a very good value .
I aso perfer thier diapham calls over others

for easy to use blow type calls i have had very good luck with primos cowgirl calls. with practice you can use them hands free and can get pretty subtle with them. i also use their bullet bugle and terminator bugle with good success. im still working on diaphragm calls and have yet to feel comfortable enough to use them hunting. i plan on purchasing Elknuts calls and dvds but havent had the extra dough yet. really want to master that calling aspect!
