Google Earth troubles

Postby JGH » 06 27, 2013 •  [Post 1]

I've been using GE for years ... and I thought I knew what I was doing. Wrong!

I'm planning a weekend scouting trip, on the edge of where I was scouting a couple weekends ago, so I zoomed in looking for a likely camp spot. What I see is that the region I am looking at is VERY low resolution, while other spots in GE remain normal.

Before anyone guesses that this is just one of those spots in GE that doesn't have good imaging data available, let me say: It was there just 2 weeks ago.

I haven't changed the settings, and this area was very clearly visible before.

Ideas?

Look at the bottom of the map, it should say Imagery Date. Verify that the date is recent. On the top of the screen you can click on view and select Historical Imagery. A slider should appear that allows you to choose from different Imagery dates. Select a date that gives you the best imagery of the area you are wanting to see. I have found this tool useful when certain areas are covered in snow, you can often select a previous date where the snow is gone. Good Luck!

Fixed it ... thanks ...

Odd, because the imagry from just a couple months ago is the bad stuff ... the old stuff is much better.

Seems like Google got a Windows "upgrade"!

I just had the same problem. (Imagery date was April of 2013). I looked at a different area, imagery was older, and it was clear.

Maybe there's just one spot like that ... if so, meet you there in September!
