mosquitos !!!

Killer mosquitos had me retreating from our archery range tonight !! It was hot and humid and those little suckers wouldn't stop for anything !!

So spray wasn't working very well and now i'm thinking ..............thermocell bug deterents !!

Do they work ? Let here what you guys know before we go out and shell out cash to keep the mosquitos at bay !!

yes, sorta, thermacell is awesome and will work. but If your moving around they wont work

Get the highest deet content spray you can find for target practice or working around the place applicatios. That is the only way to keep them bass turds off you. Thermacells work fine with zero wind but with anything blowing, they'll get you

did your bug spray have a healthy percentage of deet? deet is a must in the yukon......

It wasn't so much them biting me but the constant 30-40 buzzing my eyes and getting in behind my ears and all over !!!!! They pretty much broke me down and I was just rushing my shots just so I could get out of there !! Plus I had my dog with me and I even had to put spray on her !! The bugs were all over her face at time's. We couldn't take it !! My dog was racing me back to the truck !

i have a thermacell that i use in early bow season hunting whitetails. they work great but like bnsafe said better if you are still. when i am shooting late in the evening i hang mine where i am standing to shoot from and move my target, that way everytime i come back to shoot i am bug free.

The Thermacell lanterns cover more area for backyard or bow range type applications. They work in the swamps down here in east texas very well, could not hunt many of the places I frequent now during early season before Thermacell

Wearing a wide brimmed hat and spraying the brim with permethrin can help.

For some reason Mosquitoes love me. Over the years I've learned what works best for me. As with most things it's a system approach. I spray ALL my clothes with Repel w/Permithrin (http://www.rei.com/product/858353/repel ... t-65-fl-oz). Don't spray just your outer layer. Spray your boots, socks, pants, shirts, jacket, hat, etc. Don't skimp on the amount you use and apply the day before you go. I also, spray my backback-it keeps ants/ticks out.

I don't use Deet-it has an adverse affect on my skin and just plain stinks like chemicals. I like Picaridin (http://www.rei.com/product/800716/natra ... nt-5-fl-oz.) It works for me. It's odorless, and doesn't have a chemical smell at all.

I also, on occasion when I'm in a waterfowl blind in the swamp, wear a head net-yes, the head net is sprayed with Permithrin.

I've also found wearing a Permithrin treated wide brim hat helps a bunch. In a fixed location my thermacell is also lit. I've got it down to virtually no bites, hope this helps.

nothing ive tried works for me, they love me. i ended up half assing a couple of my trail cam placements couple weeks ago because i was getting eaten alive. within a day of hiking around setting up cams i had well over a dozen per arm, not to mention shoulders etc. half of them were so big looked like i had half golfballs shoved under my skin. one reason im hesitant to hunt too close to a wallow.

Scent Shield's No Stinkin' Bugs is as good as it gets...use it from Colorado to Texas to Ohio, and it works!! Ticks and fleas even roll off, and yet it has a pleasant smell!!

hadn't thought of leaving the thermacell in one place where you shoot, that will work. NOTHING is better for mosquitos than a thermacell. worth there wt in gold. but again it takes a few minutes for them to get the bugs out, pun intended
