What ultralite sleeping bag and or tent do You have?

well, about to pick up some gear and not quite sure what to get,I do want high quality stuff that is ultra lite to pack in to and set up a spike this fall.Im having a hard time picking a bag and tent,i dont mind spending the money but i would hate to spend the money and its not so great stuff,you know what mean? any good thoughts would be appreciated...

Wifey just bought me a GoLite Z10. It's 850 down in size long weighing in at 2 lbs 6 oz. Haven't had a chance to try it out, but it was voted warmest 3-season bag by Backcountry magazine. $350 right now.

I use a Six Moons Designs (http://www.sixmoondesigns.com/tents/Trekker.html) tent that weighs 24 oz total. The same tent can be had in Cuben @ 15 oz. It is a solid 3+ season tent, exceptionally well made and dry.
I use a Marmot Helium long 15 deg (http://marmot.com/products/helium?p=117,173,140&ft=140) @ 2.6lbs, and Neo Air (http://www.rei.com/product/829851/therm ... eeping-pad) @ 12 oz.

i have a golite shangrila 2. super light. if i use the full tent..about 22oz. if it is just the fly, about half of that. for just me, it is huge.

my sleeping bag is a 20 kifaru..24oz IIRC.

What is the main difference between your draft dodger quilt and the Revelation X? Is their more of a neck gaiter on it?

I've got a Seek Outside LBO which is a perfect solo, 2 man, or 4 man cold weather shelter depending on which pieces you configure it with. As a solo shelter it weighs 24 oz.

I also have the draft dodger quilt by SO. It is a Rev X with the addition of a draft collar. I think the collar is a nice feature for comfort and for sealing drafts.

My colder bag is a Western Mountaineering Antelope.

So the draft dodger is around the neck? Never used a quilt so I am just wondering where it is dodging drafts. I am envisioning something around the neck to trap in heat since there is no hood. I was debating this quilt or a WM Alpinlite 20 degree down bag.

Tim's normal RevX just has a cordlock around the neck to draw the quilt tight. Kevin had him add a small draft collar outboard of the cordlock, which adds a bit of padding and helps seal the drafts around your neck.

The way the quilt works is this....imagine a sleeping bag with a closed foot section. You lay down, put your feet inside the footbox, then the neck end has a snap that connects the two corners. You put that over your head, then tighten a cordlock to tighten it around your neck. Then all you have to do is tuck the sides under you and you're done.

The quilt is lighter and IMO easier to use in warmer weather than a sleeping bag is. If it's really warm you can open up the footbox and use it as a blanket, and in really cold weather you can use it as extra insulation over a sleeping bag.

I have the same combo. They are new, so I don't have a report. (Other than the bag is too warm for truck camping) I'll be putting them through their paces this season.

Im liking this Tent,Do you have to use the trecking Poles or is there another option?

Actually, even though I walk w/poles, I use the set of poles that can also be ordered with the tent. Just a little about Six Moons; Their equipment is first rate, highest quality and well thought out. This particular tent only needs 5 stakes and I've had it in some pretty extreme conditions-wind/rain. Its called a hybrid because the netting is sewn into the shell. This eliminates the need for the "nest" of netting or a floorless design. The bottom is a "bathtub" type design (it's not open to the ground) and keeps the interior absolutely dry-no sweating, no bugs. Believe it or not this 1 man tent also provides 2 vestibules, one each on the side of the tent. Also, the side entry is covered so if its raining the rain won't enter the open door when you get in/out. I really like that kinda tarp for some purposes, sucks for bugs though! I bought a roll of Silnylon and have made a few tarps. Actually I ALWAYS carry a DIY silnylon tarp 6x8 as my emergency shelter in my emergency kit.

i have a sea to summit nest for summer, mostly for mosquitoes. the siltarp has a middle guypoint that works great for this. in the fall bugs aren't an issue where i live. i used to be a tent hardcore, but the tarp versatility compacted with fresh 'non greenhouse like' air when i wake up has swayed me...
i have a really nice marmot tent that i practically lived in for years. i love that thing, but can't really think of choosing it over my tarp..... but again, in the fall bugs aren't really an issue here....

Big Agnes Lost Ranger and a Golite Shangra La for me. Very good combo for early season elk hunts imo. Have never used them past late September so not sure how they would be later into the season.
