The Braggart

[Swede]

I confess, I am a braggart in my own way. I don't care to be too overt about it at all, but will set my freshly cleaned elk skull and antlers out in front of the garage, or in the garage with the door open so, the neighbors all see it when they drive or walk by. I leave them there for up to a couple weeks. I also let the tops, or even all of the antlers be on top of my hunting gear as I travel home from my hunt. No bloody head mind you, but enough so you can see my trophy. What are your favorite ways to brag?

I'm kind of an oddcase. Too much attention makes me uncomfortable, and I don't like to brag. That's a bit of a paradox since I wrote an article about my hunt last year and got it in a magazine.

I have mounts and if folks come over to dinner I'm more than happy to talk about them, but never in the context of what a great hunter I am. First of all, my moral beliefs encourage humility instead of arrogance, and secondly I'm wise enough to know that I have a lot more learning ahead of me than I do behind me.

if I kill one yall will know im bragging on here, lol. seriously I will call everyone I know an tell em, and then tell my wife and kids about the hunt, 7 or 8 times, then I will tell yall. however I do disagree with you a little swede, its not bragging, its pride. and nothing wrong with being proud of an accomplishment you've earned.

Rockchucker30: That is funny. Maybe I can help you a little. You have your picture carrying out your elk with every post, and start a web site to help others, after your first kill. That is pretty good for bragging. Anyone who claims to be humble is not. bnsafe: I stand corrected.

The head is the last thing in the truck. Just like Swede it needs to be on top (don't want it to get crushed by anything). Last fall on the way home I seemed to hit the breaks a lot. The red light glowed up that horn so beautifully. Just making sure it was still in there. Couldn't get it to fit any other way then setting the tips up on the toolbox so it rode just a little bit higher. Granite it was 2 o'clock before I got home. Not sure the bar crowd even noticed it.

I like to cook dinner for my family with Elk meat. other than that not much of a bragger.

I will tell my hunting story's to pretty much anyone willing to listen/trade them . So now I am on here a lot and trying to recruit more friends to get into hunting elk. Bragging about how good and how much elk meat I have, is probably the best. Especially when I have some jerky with. Perfect downtime while out fishing with friends.
