Tough unit, tough hunt...Ask Paul, he has some experience with 52, if I remember right...lol
Go as deep into the wilderness as you can get, cause youre not going to find elk down low with all the roads and hunters. Plus, the elk get pushed onto the private property pretty easy.

I'd be happy to reply! I have nothing against the unit itself, just the area that I went to that was suggested. I'm sure there are plenty of great spots there just as the main areas I hunt in Idaho. You could elk hunt this unit & see nothing for the most part but if you know where to go you will find respectable bulls!

For the record, again, we called in & had shot opportunities at a dozen different elk, 3 small bulls & the rest were cows, I was after a 6 point preferably as I'd already taken a nice 6 point in Idaho that year so didn't need the meat. It didn't happen as we never came across one but there were a couple hundred hunters. I will say beware of the area you choose as there are 100's of landowner tags in that unit & once they are purchased it open those hunters up to the entire unit. I'd probably go to the wilderness if I hunted it again. Good luck!
