New GPS

Been studying getting the Montana 650t GPS from Garmin, however just got an email from the TheGPSstore.com that they have the Oregon550T on sale for 299.95 which is a bargain from what I have read. My biggest question is how good are the cameras on these units? I definitely like the Montana's bigger screen size, any thoughts?

I'd save the $$$ and go for the Garmin GPS unit with no camera as the image quality is not that high.

If you have a local shop that carries one, I'd go try out the image quality first hand.

Ditto what Huntovraphy said, I've got the Oregon 550t and pic quality is not what I had hoped for. Your better off using your phone or buy a cheap camera from Wally World.

That is what I was wondering, I carry a small nikon and was hoping to trim some weight by eliminating it. It is tough on us sea level boys when we head west and every little ounce counts, altitude is tough even when you are in shape.

Have the Rino 655T and ditto's above. The quality is only marginal, if you want to take photos. I would hate to have it as my only camera once you have a trophy animal on the ground or a spectacular sunset. Especially in low light. The one advantage is that you can geo-tag something with the picture as a way point. See a wallow, take a picture and it shows as a way point on your GPS and in Base Camp. You can go home and see exactly what you took a picture of and exactly where it was taken. Kind of nice. If money is an issue, skip the camera.

I already have a couple of cameras including a contour roam for pov filming, and I need to figure out how to post my turkey kills on here from this year by the way. However posting a pic to your GPS waypoint would be pretty nice. Thanks for all the info and any more is welcome.

What is the batt life of both with and without camera? that would help me decide.

I really like the idea of photo-cache to simplify my spots. Sure would like that big screen on the Montana, just not sure the $ worth it.

I just bought my daughter the Oregon 450 for $229 from Basspro. I use the old Etrex and thought it was the best thing going, until I started playing with this new one. Really nice stuff out there.
