Sawyer squeeze filter

Picked one up tonight and ran my tap water through it. My kids can see and taste a difference even though they didn't know which glass was which! I am amazed! We are gonna try the goose infested pond water behind the house tomorrow. I used the 16oz bag to fill a glass in less than 30 sec. Way better than waiting 30 min for iodine tablets! And where I live we have the cleanest water in the county!

i gotta go to REI today anyways to return something! i use a First Need filter and it is brutally heavy. i bought it more for pack pack trips thru 3rd world countries, rather than elk hunting trips. the squeeze thing is genious and relatively cheap. thanks..post up after you sip the goose pissy water

If you want to turn your bladder into an inline filter the adapters are $5, I will nolonger filter to fill a bladder. If you do decide to filter your bladder pick up some cheap Platty bags.

Paul tomorrow me and my daughter will take pics of tap water and pond water and them filtered. Had a 3rd person say the filtered water looked more clear.

I've got the sawyer filter bottle. Fill the bottle with dirty water, suck through the straw for clean water. Very simple. And I can take the filter out and make a gravity setup out of it, or probably turn it into a squeeze filter....I think all the sawyer systems use the same filter.

Only downside is you have to keep them warm. If they freeze they can still let water through, but can let bugs through too.

I never did make it out to the pond sorry about that. But I can say I filtered water from some nasty little trickles of water coming from a wallow that both elk and cattle used with lots of poo in it plus I filtered from a beaver pond and I'm alive and well. I only dislike one thing about it and that's filling the bag. You need a moving water source or something deeper than a puddle. Other than that it is easy and works!

I replaced the original bags with a platypus big zip. This bag is much easier to fill and way more durable. I would recommend the sawyer squeeze. Havent used the new mini but that looks interesting too
