What Should You Do? Scenario 10

Thought I'd jump back in with one.

Three point or better area; solo bowhunting; 21 September, 20___. You're in the middle of your two week MT hunt. There is a small herd with a nice 6 point, at least one satellite, and a handfull of cows. You decide you can get no closer with what the terrain offers, and, the wind is starting to swirl. You set up with cover to your back, 60-70 yards away from where you believe the herd is, nock an arrow, and before you finish a few soft cow calls.... crash, Crash, CRash, CRAsh, CRASH! And he's right there, stopped at 25ish yards, screaming in your face.. You did have the presence of mind to come to full draw in those few seconds.. Now, what would you do?

will he come in further?
the moment he isnt looking I take a chance and roll into the cover and start shaking and raken and maybe a short high pitch small bull bugle
I think he thinks hes a bad dude,.. and mabe he is, If he charges in maybe I have a shot, maybe I dont. If he hangs out I rake some more and more. Maybe with that cover i cow or calf call and move towards him on the side hoping he comes to check things outI
Cahrging in and that body language tells me hes going to come in

If he gets rel close I take the frontal shot


What did I do wrong,.. I dnot know but it sure was fun
If I kill him I go deer hunting or fishing

The bull is 25 (ish) yds. I'm at full draw but it's a bad shot angle. The wind is starting to swirl and everything is going to hell at any moment. I'm going to hold at full draw, not make a sound and wait for him to turn. When he does, give a nervous grunt to stop him and squeeze the trigger.

If you are happy with putting this bull in your freezer, you can wait for him to turn or you can take him as he stands. I think I would punch him right there . There are a couple of good lethal areas open for your arrow in this picture. He should be on the ground within 30 yards. If you wait for a better angle, he may whirl and be gone all in one motion.

3 "antler" points or more on at least one side of the rack. I should have clarified.

There is no angle that gets both lungs.
One lung and liver... yes, but that is not good enough for me on an elk any more.
Both lungs or I pass. I'm waiting for him to turn.

I'm with Da White Shoe. I think I will have to become a statue.

I do not like that angle at that yardage. With the swirly wind, he may bolt. I'll play those odds.

If he turns and I can get a better angle, I will pop a grunt and try to kill him.

That shot angle is doable but not the best. I would expect him to give a better shot and would probably wait a little longer. This is one of those scenarios where practicing and training to hold at full draw for 1 to 2 minutes could really be valuable.

my heart is pounding with excitment at this point and the thrill of it all is very satisfying when I am at full draw on a dandy bull.

I am going to hold that arrow as long as possible to wait for the broadside shot.

I've dreamed of this situation, first I would make sure my hunting buddy didn't hear me crap my pants then I would wait for a better broadside shot then slip a Muzzy into him.
