What trail camera brand do you use, and why? If you have a cellular camera, what’s your data plan like? As the deer season comes to an end, I’m considering switching to a new brand like Exodus, Barn Owl, Black Gate, or others. Currently, I have three cameras: two on cellular (Tactacam and Magic Eagle) and one not (Wildview).

4 Tactacams here. $85 a year x 4. If they all got hit by lightning tonight I would buy 4 more.

Tactacam here too. Really like them. About to deploy a 3.0 this weekend, I hear the pictures are much better.

Several weeks ago, I added four 3.0, with the recent trade-in program and sale at Cabelas i got them for $75 each.
I had three of the originals

Last year I had the middle data plan.

This year I went to the basic $5 per camera.

I have one solar panel, and the other 6 I use auxiliary rechargeable batteries.

I am also using Techncam also because they're cheap
I also have 2 tactical cells but I don't get good enough service where I hunt

I am not opposed to trail cameras at all, but they seem to be more bother than they are worth to me. I only hunt elk seriously. It has been years since I used a trail cam. I did not find they were much help for finding big bull elk. The bulls in the area are scattered and infrequent at waterholes and following trails. Trail cameras are probably much better for locating trophy deer.
I believe I have a 2024 picture of the elk I killed this season. He was coming down the same trail he descended just before I shot him. That picture was taken on a friend's trail cam and is interesting.

Anyone use a spypoint with integrated solar panel and rechargeable battery? I have a couple spots I thought about flying mid summer to hang where I get phone service. Clearly the elk use the area but figured this may give a better idea "when" that is. I don't have the ability to swap batteries or someone to drop pins to our there, so solar is the only route

The guys I hunt with, and my son leave their cameras out all summer and they are still working when they return in the hunting season. Some leave their cameras out over the winter. They don't all work year round, but some are still going are still active when they return to hunt. If you can find the ones that will last year-round it could save you a trip to go scouting.

I run stealthcam here at home and have to swap lithium batteries every 3 weeks on the dot. Besides the quality of images, they are total junk lol

Rancho, I know nothing about Stealthcams, but I would call them up and complain. What you have is unacceptable. Have you tried a new set of alkaline batteries to see if they are better? I know that is not likely, but it would prove your lithium batteries were not the problem.
