Does Your Tree stand Creak?

Postby Swede » 09 25, 2025 •  [Post 1]

The bull I shot this season came in very cautiously. He was above my stand level on the hillside about forty yards away when he came into my view. I had to wait until he was directly in front and lower than me before I could move. Even then I knew the slightest sound from me or the stand would send him away instantly.
As I stood up and turned around to put my bible away, tie back the tree stand seat and pick up my bow, I had total confidence it would all be done without the slightest noise.

Later, when I said something about the noise factor, I was asked how do you do that? My answer was "very carefully", but the truth is that I have total confidence my Millennium M100 will not betray me at that critical time. My pack, hanging on a hook, is wide open and ready to accept my book or anything else I have taken from it. My bow is on a hook that is rubber coated. I have planned and prepared to be able to quickly and silently move to make my shot whenever the time comes. It is easy to neglect just one thing and blow your whole hunt in an instant.

The biggest threat to being heard comes from a noisy stand. My Millennium does not make a sound when I stand up or turn. Some of the other stands I have had were a pain to keep silent.

What is your situation and how have you managed to keep quiet in your stand?

I read this before I went up for my last two days…I did a lot of testing and mine are quiet. I always use an extra heavy strap to suck mine down tight so it won’t move…. Lots of people say it’s not needed and it might not be, but it gives me confidence that my stand won’t move when the time comes so I will continue to do it

Good idea Elkhunttoo. I also secure mine near the bottom with a rachet strap. The stand manufacturer does not include one, but the strap helps. The stand is not only quiet, but I feel more secure when entering or leaving. I have a good safety line, so I won't fall, but I don't want the stand to move on me.
