Some years Im up the day before and hunt early AM,
Some years I set up camp and hunting the evening,
While I was still teaching: The first Friday,, I had permission to beat the kids out of the parking lot.

This year we will be ready to hunt on opening morning.

For the first time in many years, I do not know if or when I will go. I burned 15 points to be sure I could get a good tag but now my wife is not feeling well, and I do not want to leave her behind.

I just got through saying a special prayer for your wife. I know she must mean the world to you. She is much more important than any elk hunt could ever be.

I'm sorry to hear that Swede. Hoping for a speedy recovery for her.

I most likely will not elk hunt this year unfortunately. We are leaving on October 5 for Idaho to deer hunt. Opener on the 10th. Bringing the wife and two kids this year. Hoping to have my 7 yearold with me when I squeeze the trigger on a buck this year.
I hunt therefore I am. I fish therefore I lie.

You jerks bring a tear to my eyes. Thank you for your concern and prayers. You guys make WapitiTalk a great place to share and banter about the meaning of hunting and even life itself.

Again, Thank You:

I won't be going this year. Unfortunately, old age and health issues have knocked me out of the game. My balance really sucks anymore. I would be a walking disaster in the mountains. Just an accident waiting to happen. So I'm going to have to call it quits and just resort to shooting prairie dogs and ground squirrels and enjoy making a few knives as a hobby. But my heart is still in the game!

But I wish each and everyone of you the very best of luck this year. And, I'll continue to be active here on the forum and offer up the many tips and tricks I've learned over the past six or so decades of hunting.
