Monthly Wapiti Talk Photo Contest - July 2016 - WINNER!

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 07 01, 2016 •  [Post 1]

July's Photo Theme – "Freestyle". It's a freestyle month; post up one of your favorite outdoor themed photos.
Rules:

1. One photo submission allowed per month, per member (yep, MODs may enter a photo also).
2. Photo must relate to the monthly theme (or risk being disqualified).
3. Do not use photo editing software to enhance your photo. Just post the photo as it was taken with your camera, smart phone, trail cam, etc. You may have to resize some photos so they are accepted by the forum software.
4. You may use older photos you have on hand, but, do not submit a photo that has won a previous WT photo contest.
5. Any WT member may enter a photo they have taken or star in.
6. Judging – WT members will vote on monthly photo submissions.
7. Contest period will normally end the last day of the month.
8. Winner must contact Phantom16 via PM and provide mailing address for prize (your prize may be sent directly from a WT sponsor or from RJ).
9. Prizes will vary from month to month.

* At the end of the year, all monthly contest winners will be automatically entered into a Photo of the Year Contest.

This month's prize is provided by Alpine Touch (Montana's Special Spice)! How about a twofer! The winner of this month's photo contest will receive an Alpine Touch Original All Purpose Seasoning, and, an Alpine Touch Country Style BBQ Sauce!

No Photoshop. Freaked me out when I looked up and saw the wooden man watching for elk.

It's all natural. It just looks that way from that angle. From the side or up close it's just a jumble and not even connected. Freaked me out more than any other time in the woods.

Why did I select this photo as opposed to other cool ones for a freestyle? It's not the most impressive of photos, but captures one of the result of one of the more meaningful days of outdoors activities in recent years. This cold January day I took my two youngest boys ice fishing. The photo is of part of my (then) 3 year old's haul for the morning of fishing. We kicked lots of smaller perch back down the hole. As I had two ice flies on his rod, he pulled in two fish simultaneously on three occasions. It was an epic morning where I was never able to put my own rod in the water as the two boy's catching, baiting, and tangling of lines kept me moving constantly. And I was perfectly content to not be able to fish that morning. The boys had an absolute blast! As did I.

We invited 72 fish home, and probably released as many.

My twin boys and the neighbor girl. Sure is fun experiencing the outdoors with them when they are young. They really sat still that day!
