Withdrawals

So we finished up our 2015 season in Wyoming on Thu, camp is tore down and back home. Successful year of our group hunting with cow tags. We filled all three of the tags. I'm already having terrible withdrawals and am itching to get after it for next year. Anyone else having the same problem

I've been itching to get back out since our archery season closed at the end of September. I'm waiting for the snow to melt so I can get out and look for sheds and start setting up cameras

I'm lucky I guess. I been home a little over a month. I still have 2 deer tags to fill within the next 11 days. Deer is a pacifier for me until January then I start planning the next elk adventure. I almost forgot April is turkey season (poor mans elk). Last year I shot a turkey 1st day so that didn't take much time away from dreaming of future elk hunts.

I'm putting in an application to WY, hoping to draw. Lots of homework there plus ElkNut stuff keeps me pretty darn busy, glad to be busy & not idle! You must have a hobby or other to occupy your time! (grin)

I'm with six....I have things to keep me occupied. I had to spend like 30 grand on a Harley to take my mind off of it. When that gets put away it's deer season and then out come the beagles until the end of February.

But still..... sitting around all winter looking at mounted bulls can cause a relapse!

This freakin website doesn't help any!!!

Elknut what area are you looking to apply for? We did the black hills this year, thinking about either going back to the Bighorns or farther west next season

I am suffering through the winter too. Withdrawals start right after the end on my hunt. I too am looking forward to scouting, but that is about 6 months away.

Nope, not me... I'm fine and dandy thank you.

I'm already starting to plan my 2016 scouts and hunts, I guess that's what keeps me occupied (Mrs. Phantom tells me I'm "event driven" and I have to have something to plan and look forward to).... she may be right. Also, I get together with local cats that want to work on their calling and shoot some arrows throughout the off season. Oh, and I just picked up my first boomstick in many years and was able to get out and make folks at the range laugh at me today .

Lots of ideas. Shoot whatever you can hunt or can shoot year round. Great time to shoot squirrels, rabbits, birds, feed a dog (think xylitol = wolves), coyotes, start shooting past your comfort range, GE the new spots you stumbled on last year, etc, etc, etc. I am lucky and can still shoot into Februay for whitetails and dogs. I have things to do all year long.After archery elk has always been waterfowling. Mixed with rifle deer a bit of trapping then cisco fishing, coyote and lion hunting, ATving, bear hunting more ATving.
