Hunt up or down?

This year I will be packing in a few days at a time with my rifle. With camp on my back I have the ability to camp high and hunt down or camp down and hunt up. What do you guys prefer? Hunting down the mountain or hunting up?

For me it would depend on the time of day and the wind. With that being said, I prefer hunting from above.

I always prefer to start the day from a somewhat elevated location, especially when rifle hunting. It affords opportunities to glass a much larger area, and then plan your intercept course from the top down (not playing catch up from below). However, a lot can depend on terrain, wind, and other factors.

I agree, it easier. death from above, but watch thermal and I hate walking back up hill at the end of the day

I'll throw a wrench in here. After elk have bedded I like to be at or near the same elevation and wait them out. I know i should have an opportunity later when they get up and started moving around.
