Secret Pleasure

Well, probably not so secret. Soo, you've whittled down your day pack life and energy sustaining food list for XX days on the September hunt. The lightweight, high protein, ultra calorie bars are locked in, lunch items are calculated and zip locked in quart bags for the trip. What do you sneak into each day's rations that are not in a matter of speaking, in line with the best bang for the buck snacks . For me, it's always been mini candy bars, snickers for the most part. What do you cats put in your day's rations that may or may not be in a matter of speaking, the best choices for the energy needed which you're gonna expend in the elk woods? . I'm suspecting Indian Summer carries Lobster niblets but I'm not sure.

My hunting partner would revolt if we didn't have some mini Heath bars. Take Snickers and Peanut M&Ms as well just for variety.

I'm out of lobsters by the time elk season rolls around or I would.

For me there are two staples: Elk jerky... and mini Heath bars. And Snickers to mix it up. Where have I heard that before

M&M's . . . and if they end up melted together in the baggie, I wait until the next morning and eat the whole bag like a semi-frozen candy bar . . . !!!!!!

Ut Oh . . . now you all know I have Fat-Kid tendencies

Did I mention, I'll eat a whole 2 lbs bag in a 4-day hunt . . . !!!!

Apples. I take one for lunch every day. Take up a ton of space and weight to calorie ratio is horrible but I love fresh fruit so they go in with me.

I have a piece of banana bread or pumpkin bread for dessert every night around the fire along with a glass of whole milk made from powdered whole milk

hope i dont get flamed.

but my January deer hunt...i usually bring a couple of wedges of FRUITCAKE!! if you buy it from trappist monks, it is excellent. it has dried fruit and nuts..it is essentially the original protein energy bar.

Doesn't come with me in the woods, but this stays at the truck. It has an elk on the front, and proved good luck this year.
