Packing out boned meat.

What do you use to keep the boned out meat together and in a manageable package when packing them out.? I would think a couple long slender pillow cases would work. My Alaskan game bags will bulge to much to pack with so I am wondering what would keep the load in a bundle?

Get a set of the TAG's Bomb bags. Come in a little pack with the bags to fit an entire boned elk. They are washable, light, you can hang them, great purchase.

Just be sure if you take your meat in you tell the locker NOT to throw them away. I'm replacing mine, learned the hard way. I'm also going to write my name on them with a sharprie along with DO NOT THROW AWAY.

A Kifaru Gen II hanging meat bag is designed specifically for that purpose. Wide top w/ draw string and tapered to the btm. Keeps the boned out mass from all sinking down to a blob.

When packing boned out meat we've used the Allen Game bags for many years now without having everything ball to the bottom. Of course a well designed pack with compression straps designed just to secure meat takes out a lot of the frustration! The meat generally balls up when you throw it into a bag or pouch, avoid doing that if possible & use packs with these in-place compression straps.

I slide the game bag into a Kifaru meat baggie and it holds it's shape pretty well if you compress the pack nice and tight afterward. I seam sealed the bag to keep blood from dripping inside my pack.

Caribou Carnivore bags and the compression straps on my Kifaru. 100+ lbs. is nothing with a balanced and secure load.

I use Allen bags too.

Can anyone tell me what is special or different about those TagBags?

EDIT: I did some research on those. Lightweight, synthetic material stays dry which means less bacteria. Various sizes to suit every need. My need right now is for moose so I'm not so sure my Allens would do the job. SOLD!

I've used the Allan Outfitter bags for years as has Paul. I switched this year to Caribou brand.
The BIG difference is 5 Caribou "wapiti" bags weigh 1#. 4 Allan bags weigh close to 2# and are twice to volume.
The downside to the synthetic is their breathability. They don't breath worth crap. You can blow out a candle thru Allan bags. I can't even feel air when trying to blow thru a synthetic. They sure do clean up nice though. Solid red soaked in blood, left for a cpl weeks and two trips thru the front loader and they're bright white again.
