back tension release for hunting???

Has anyone heard about the back tension releases? I just learned about them, last night at a fun shoot archery competition I was talking to a indoor archery champion, and he uses a back tension release( if you don't know what it is look it up, hard to explain). I was woundering if anyone uses these fir hunting or just fir pratice? Thanks for any help

There is no way i would use one for hunting. It would make for a great training tool in the off season though. That would then translate to you using your current release in a back tension manner.

I use a back tension release for target. What a back tension release gives you is a surprise release. There is no way to "punch" the release. For hunting I use a thumb release that is in the same geometry as my BT release. The way the thumb trigger works is the same as the BT as it can be fired by just the rotation caused by your back muscles. But you can also squeeze the thumb if you need to hurry the shot. The releases I use are both from TRU ball. A Max 4 pro for hunting and a sweet spot 4 for target.

I hunt with one. Used them for target for so many years that I couldn't imagine shooting anything else. They can be manipulated to fire on command if you need to get the shot off in a hurry.

I use a SQEEZE me , that has a safety mechanism. It works great for hunting ! Been using if for few years no problems!
