Arrow fletching problems !!

Postby BGbowhunters » 11 05, 2014 •  [Post 1]

I recently bought an Arizona EZ fletch to fletch my own arrows. I've used Easton and Bohning glue and the fletchings will easily peel off. When I get my arrows fletched at a nearby archery shop they last until I shoot a fletchings off. What am I doing wrong?!?!?!?!

Are you cleaning your shafts with anything, denatured alcohol, laquer thinner, acetone, etc. If not put a liberal amount of any of these, they all evaporate quickly, on a rag and wipe the fletching end of the shafts, cleaning them of any residue. You can also ruff up the shafts with a scotchbrite kitchen pad. This should fix your problem.

Make sure you are using Bohning Platinum glue, and like Marc said, clean and rough up the shafts. If I have a problem fletch, I sometimes smear a little thin layer of glue on the shaft where the fletch is gong to set with my finger first, let it get real tacky (not dried), then glue my fletch on. Its not the cleanest look, but it works.

I had the same problem with the Bohning stuff. I switched to the AAE fast set and have never had another problem.
