How frequently do your bugles get a response?

I tend to get all amped up for the early season, and relatively quickly underwhelmed by the responses I get to my bugles. Early in the season (first week or two) I find it rare that a bull replies to me with a bugle of his own. Later in the season it's less rare, but still more often than not I am bugling by myself. Once I find the elk this becomes a much different ratio, obviously...

What's your experience?

I have limited experience, however it seems the weather and timing has more to do with it than "your" bugling...When there vocal I am usually busy closing the distance and calling a little less, then call once I get in tight!

Lately I have been getting no responses to my bugles.....but that could be because there are no Elk here in Virginia....i'll keep practicing anyway.....
