I was watching a you tube video and this guy made a nice shot on a spike bull. It was his first critter with a bow. This bull was in velvet. Can a person bring home a rack in velvet? Well it start to stink after time? If it does smell is there something a you can do to keep it from smelling?
Let say it was not in velvet is it worth the time and energy to pack a head out for 3 miles? I'm a meat hunter and if it's my bull I think I would cut the spike off and carry them out. What do you think?????

I have never noticed any stink from spike antlers in velvet, but the rest of the head surely will. I have killed several in September. It is up to you what you want to keep. I would not want the ivories either on a spike. They are too hollow. I shoot spikes for the meat only. The hide would be good too, but I don't want to pack it three miles.
