Longtime dead bulls bedroom

I killed a nice rifle bull my first full year here in Idaho within the Bear Lake range.I have been to the area a lot of times since picking huckleberries, ATV'ing, snowmachining,. It was my kids favorite snow skiing trip, real steep, deep powder and mom had hot chocolate at the bottom of the hill
This was the the 2nd time Ive been back to where I killed the elk. I kept looking at google images and realized . The bull had his bedroom 200 yards from a well used ATV trail. He had scratched maybe 40 beds in an 70 yard circle.
This girl spotted me in his old bedroom, she was too curious for my liking, she walked to about 30 yards , I walked to an easy tree to climb

A look at the rest of his place.
9 years ago the place had deer spending a lot of time near the old bulls bedroom. The whole area reaked of deer and bull, Sadly no more. There were fresh elks tracks scattered around
Still hunting I out did the bull in his own place

Nearly everything green on the forest floor was huckleberries
Most plants didnt have any beries

We took a short side trip to check out a Camp Bartlett for Boy Scouts next summer. Then a bit further down the road we stopped at my fatherinlaws ranch that he sold 12 years ago,..Looks like someone has a cabin planned.
Kind of sad I spent hundreds of hours keeping water flowing in the ditch feeding the property and mending fence. My wife was a bit sad, She spent a lot of time watching her dad fence, and helped move cows and cut firewood

Easeup, really? It makes sense but I know zilch about horses so thanks for pointing it out.

Lefty, thank you for sharing that with us; really enjoyed the pics and a bit of your history. Sorry about the ranch moving on to a different owner.
