Well I found out yesterday that my partner from last year will be hunting private land so it's just me and my son for this trip. This isn't a problem at all since we hunt together all the time anyway and it gives us the whole area to ourselves unless someone else wonders in there. This will be my 2nd elk hunt and my son's first but my priority for the 2 weeks will to be get him a shot. Man I can't wait till mid September!!

I am fired up for this trip! Last year was a sharp learning curve being new to elk hunting and the area but I covered a lot of miles and learned a lot. I am confident that I can put him in position for a shot. I marked 4 spots on my GPS for a climber but just never brought mine in there. We had an hour drive and a 2.5 mile hike each day to get to our spot and with only 5 hours sleep a night we didn't get there until daybreak. We will be camping a short 4 wheeler ride from where we set out on foot so we can get in to where I want to be well before daylight this year.

Thanks everyone, Paul almost every question I come up with I usually search this site and can find the answer before I ask it. I do not post much but I do read the forum daily.

My partner from last year is hunting private land about an hour from us and will arrive on our 8th day. I worked out a deal for him to bring up our 2nd weeks precooked frozen meals with him and we will pick it up at the place he is hunting so thats another issue resolved.
