Washington GMU 466 Stampeed

Postby Bordercop » 02 27, 2014 •  [Post 1]

When the weather gets better and the snow goes away I plan on scouting this GMU. I am planning to access it from NF 70 off of Hwy 410 and go east about 12 miles to NF 7030/7036 out of GMU 653 White River (no elk hunting without a special tag). Has anyone been out there?

I used to hunt the Stampede GMU many years ago (20 or more years ago). Got away from it as it was a very highly hunted/pressured area (much access by roads). I have no recent knowledge that that has changed. I do remember there was decent RM Elk populations there though. Rec you check the 2012 WDFF harvest statistics and see if it's actually an area with a decent harvest rate. Maybe another WA guy will chime in with any more recent thoughts on that area.
