I've been lurking for a year or so and recently ordered Paul's playbook and calling videos. I haven't looked at everything yet but i'm already impressed with the depth of knowledge I've found on the material. Also the forum topics are informative without flamers butting in. I enjoy the site.

I started chasing elk with a bow at age 51 (No one told me how much fun it was) Now I'm 63 and coming off of my second rotator cuff surgery and worrying about getting back in shape for going back down to OR in Sept.

I'd be interested in hearing about the surgery and recovery! I've fought with my right shoulder for too many years to acknowledge but years of baseball as a young adult and playing competitive tennis as an adult has wreaked havoc. I was lifting a couple weeks ago pretty heavy (for me) and woke up the next day and couldn't move my arm. My shoulder is now trashed. I've been doing my PT exercises again but won't even try to pull back my bow for another month or more. I am scared that one day this will happen right before a hunt. I'd be screwed.

I'm thinking of waiting until after September to go get it looked at as I'm not sure I'd have enough time to recover if I did it now.

I have done a rifle hunt on Afognak island and do a lot of rifle deer hunting. With a bow I can still buy over the counter tags in OR.

I'm new to this forum and fairly new to archery hunting. Seems to be a lot of great information to be had!
Lark Bunting-I'm 4 weeks post
Labrum repair. My injury was from weight lifting followed by a couple years of over use. I finally decided to get an MRI after it affected my first few shots and began to interfere with work. I've been studying elk hunting and am getting used to the mouth reed in the meantime.
Do yourself a favor and get it addressed sooner rather than later. The recovery is a long one and is very specific. Do as your doctor allows. Nothing more & nothing less.
